I've just done a series of woodcut-like illustrations publicising our village here in France. Four 'typical' scenes done in an appropriate medieval style...
If you like mad drum led guitar noise done by two blokes - this is for you. Hella is planning to release their first studio album since 2007 “There’s No 666 In Outer Space“. The album has no title as yet. Listen to a taster anyway: here.
I happened to see something floating in a puddle looking like an island in the shape of Bruce Forsyth's head, two tiny books nailed to a wasp, and a dog looking at an image of itself in a tree leaf.
Naturally, I recorded all this for posterity and I'll continue to keep a drawn record of any further curiosities I notice when I'm out and about.
As this is my first post on my shiny new blog, I'll tentatively show you some pages from an old sketchbook, a decade old I imagine. Nothing too surreal (yet), these are straight sketches of animals. These roughs were done for a proposed children's early learning book if I remember rightly (I might not be).
I enjoyed drawing the most grotesque breeds (bulldogs, chihuahuas etc) only because they're more interesting.
I dare say the final illustrations were toned down a bit and made more 'cuddly'. Yuk. Still, I dare say I got paid for it! Dogs....I love 'em!
These were done before we had our own Jack Russell, Olive, otherwise I'm sure there'd be a few of her in there. I wouldn't mind a pug one day though, they're quite ugly.
